Outreach

Outreach

Saint Thomas participates in a wide variety of outreach programs on many different levels. These include things we do as a parish working through the Diocese; activities we engage in as a parish in support of our community; use of the parish buildings, without fees, by the community; and the myriad of individual volunteer efforts by members working throughout the area.

We regularly support the Diocesan mission budget, and are currently supporting the Mission focus and mission strategy efforts of the diocese. We participate in the Presiding Bishop's Fund, and through the United Thank Offering, support the Episcopal Church women in the Massachusetts Diocese.

Organized in 1985, and located in Saint Thomas Parish House, the "Our Daily Bread" Soup Kitchen provides meals and fellowship for the needy in the community Monday through Friday, serving between 160 and 190 meals on any one day. Begun with a grant from the Mustard Seed Foundation, Our Daily Bread has become a program receiving widespread community support in the form of money, food, and countless hours of volunteer work.

Individual members give of their time to a variety of community organizations too numerous to mention. Among them would be included the Morton Hospital, the Red Cross, Taunton Area Alliance for the Mentally Ill, and local nursing homes.
